Janmashtami 2026 at Govind Dev Ji: Darshan, Entry & Traffic Arrangements

This article records the entry, darshan and traffic arrangements reported for Janmashtami at Govind Dev Ji Temple on 4 September 2026. The event has ended; these arrangements are not the temple’s everyday access plan.

The festival entry route

The reported plan placed entry on the Jaleb Chowk side, with separate queues for pass holders and devotees with or without footwear. Visitors were asked to follow the designated approach.

Exit after darshan

The plan directed devotees towards the eastern and western gates of Jai Niwas Garden after darshan, rather than returning against the incoming queue. Barricades and crowds could make the walking route much longer than on an ordinary day.

Darshan programme for 4 September

The reported festival schedule listed Mangla at 4:00–6:30 AM, Dhoop at 7:00–9:00 AM, Shringar at 9:30–11:15 AM and Rajbhog at 11:45 AM–1:15 PM. Evening sessions were Gwal at 4:00–6:30 PM, Sandhya at 6:45–8:30 PM and Shayan at 9:15–10:30 PM.

The late-night programme also listed a Mangla session at 11:00–11:15 PM, followed by tithi worship and abhishek at midnight. These are archived festival timings, not the current daily timetable.

Traffic and parking

The original coverage described restrictions on public transport within the walled city and encouraged metro use. Ram Niwas Bagh, Chaugan Stadium and Gem Cinema were named as parking locations in that festival plan.

The report also noted changes to the normal footwear arrangements. A future festival may use a different plan, so check its own notice before leaving home.
