9 Mata Temples in Jaipur & Nearby for Navratri Darshan

Navratri is a good time to make space for a Mata temple visit, whether you have a few hours in Jaipur or a full day for a drive. Shila Mata at Amer is an obvious starting point, but Jamwai Mata, Jobner’s Jwala Mata and the temples around Sambhar and Chaksu give you more options.

This guide brings together nine Mata temples in Jaipur and nearby parts of Rajasthan. Choose a visit that suits your family, the time you have and how much travel you want to do. You do not need to fit several darshan stops into the same day.

Which temple fits your plan?

  • Staying within Jaipur: Shila Mata at Amer.
  • A separate outing near Jaipur: Jamwai Mata at Jamwa Ramgarh or Jwala Mata at Jobner.
  • Sambhar side: Shakambhari Mata near Sambhar Lake.
  • Chaksu side: Sheetla Mata at Sheel Ki Dungri or Baglamukhi Mata at Kadera.
  • A longer day of travel: Jeen Mata, Shakambhari Mata at Sakrai Dham, or Narayani Mata on the Alwar side.

These groups help you choose a direction. They are not a promise that every temple in a group can be covered comfortably in one trip. Check the route from your own starting point and leave room for queues, meals and the return journey.

1. Shila Mata Temple, Amer

Amer Fort, Jaipur. Shila Mata Temple is within the fort complex; this photograph shows the fort exterior.

Where: inside the Amer Fort complex.

If you want a Mata temple visit without planning a long drive out of Jaipur, begin with Shila Mata. The temple is an important part of Amer’s religious life, and Navratri brings special worship and many devotees.

Keep darshan as the main purpose of the visit. If you also want to explore the palace, allow extra time and check the separate sightseeing arrangements. Do not assume the palace ticket schedule and temple darshan schedule are the same.

For October 2026: an Amar Ujala report dated 9 October says Ghatasthapana is scheduled for 11 October, with the Chhath fair on 16 October. Its first-day darshan information and stated daily afternoon closure overlap, so confirm the day’s opening arrangements with temple staff before leaving. This guide does not treat those reported timings as a confirmed daily timetable.

Families visiting with older relatives should allow time for walking, steps and waiting. Follow the queue and parking arrangements in place on the day.

2. Jamwai Mata Temple, Jamwa Ramgarh

Where: Jamwa Ramgarh, outside Jaipur.

Jamwai Mata is another option when you want to dedicate an outing to darshan. Rajasthan Tourism lists the Jamwa Mata Temple at Jamwa Ramgarh among the state’s protected monuments.

Use the temple’s exact map location when arranging a cab. Searching only for Ramgarh can leave you with a destination that is too broad. Check access and darshan hours before the journey, particularly during the festival.

Keep this as its own outing rather than automatically adding it to an already busy Amer sightseeing day.

3. Jwala Mata Temple, Jobner

Where: Jobner, west of Jaipur.

Jobner Mata is the Jwala Mata temple. Rajasthan’s Devasthan records list the shrine at Jobner, and it deserves a place in a Jaipur-area darshan guide.

The temple is on a hill, so include the approach and climb in your plan. Wear comfortable footwear for the journey and ask locally about access if someone in your group has difficulty with steps.

Make sure your map pin says Jobner. There are other Jwala Mata temples, and a similar name alone is not enough to identify the right destination.

4. Shakambhari Mata Temple, Sambhar

Where: the Sambhar Lake area.

This is the Shakambhari Mata temple to look for when you are planning a trip towards Sambhar. Rajasthan Tourism includes it in its Sambhar visitor material.

It is a different destination from Sakrai Dham near Udaipurwati. Mention “Sambhar” clearly when booking transport or asking for directions, rather than using only the goddess’s name.

If darshan is your priority, start with the temple and keep any extra sightseeing flexible. Ask about the current approach road and parking instead of assuming every lakeside route is suitable for your vehicle.

5. Sheetla Mata Temple, Chaksu

Where: Sheel Ki Dungri in the Chaksu area.

Sheetla Mata is another shrine to consider on the Chaksu side of Jaipur. Rajasthan’s school-board history and culture material identifies the temple’s fair with Sheel Ki Dungri in Chaksu.

Its well-known annual fair is associated with Sheetla Saptami and Ashtami in Chaitra. That is a separate festival from autumn Navratri; do not expect the same fair arrangements during an October visit.

For a darshan outing now, check the temple’s current opening hours and the approach before leaving. Allow time for the hill visit rather than treating it as a roadside stop.

6. Baglamukhi Mata Dham, Kadera–Chaksu

Where: Kadera, Chaksu.

Maa Baglamukhi Dham’s own website gives its address as M-5, Akshay Jeevan City, Kadera, Chaksu. It is another option for devotees planning a visit in this direction.

If you want to attend a particular puja or arrange a seva, contact the Dham first. A general darshan visit and a booked ritual may have different arrangements.

Sheetla Mata and Baglamukhi Mata are both on the Chaksu side, but check the actual journey between them before deciding to visit both. Keep the second stop optional if queues or travel take longer than expected.

7. Jeen Mata Temple, Sikar side

Where: Jeenmata village in the Sikar region.

For a trip that gives most of the day to darshan and travel, Jeen Mata is an option. Rajasthan Tourism places the temple around 108 km from Jaipur; your road distance will depend on where you start and the route you take.

Leave time for a meal and the journey home. If you are travelling with children or older family members, a single main temple visit can be easier than adding several more destinations to the day.

Confirm festival access and darshan arrangements before departure. Regular travel estimates may not account for Navratri queues.

8. Shakambhari Mata Temple, Sakrai Dham

Where: Sakrai Dham, near Udaipurwati.

The Sakrai Dham website identifies this Shakambhari Mata shrine near Udaipurwati. It is separate from the temple near Sambhar Lake, so check the full destination before you set off.

For this visit, keep most of the day available for travel and darshan. You can decide on additional stops after checking how much time the main visit needs.

Use “Shakambhari Mata, Sakrai Dham” when arranging a driver. If you need a meal or a place to stay, ask the temple’s listed contacts about current availability before relying on it.

9. Narayani Mata Temple, Alwar side

Where: southwest of Alwar.

Rajasthan Tourism and Incredible India both list Narayani Mata as a religious destination in the Alwar region. This is one to plan as a separate trip from Jaipur.

Confirm the exact temple pin and road route with your driver. Do not use the distance to Alwar city as if it were the distance to the shrine.

If you want to add another stop, work out the return journey first. A darshan trip is easier to enjoy when the last part of the day is not a rush to get home.

Before you leave for darshan

  • Confirm the current opening hours, afternoon closures and festival arrangements.
  • Check the exact temple location, especially for the two Shakambhari Mata destinations.
  • Allow extra time for queues and parking during Navratri.
  • Carry water for the journey and choose footwear suited to walking.
  • Ask about steps and access if someone in your group needs assistance.
  • Follow the temple’s rules for footwear, offerings and photography.
  • Keep additional stops flexible and arrange your return transport.
