Teej Festival 2026: Jaipur Sawari Route, Timing and Traffic Update for Today

Jaipur is ready to celebrate one of its most colourful traditions as the Teej Festival 2026 begins today, August 15. The celebrations will continue on August 16, with the famous Teej Mata royal procession passing through the historic Walled City. The dates and Tripolia Gate–City Palace venue are listed by Incredible India, with Rajasthan Tourism as the source.

Teej Sawari Route and Timing

The Teej Mata Shahi Sawari will begin from the City Palace/Janani Deodhi area and move through the old city.

The traditional route is:

Janani Deodhi → Tripolia Gate → Tripolia Bazaar → Chhoti Chaupar → Gangauri Bazaar → Chaugan Stadium → Talkatora

Festival activities and the procession are expected to begin in the evening, around 5 PM onwards, so visitors planning to watch the Sawari should try to reach the area early. Rajasthan Tourism is also promoting the celebrations at Tripolia Gate for August 15 and 16.

This year, the procession will also feature Rajasthan’s folk culture, traditional performances and the royal-style Teej procession. Around 175 folk artists are expected to take part, while special arrangements have also been made for visitors to watch the celebrations.

Jaipur Traffic Update for Teej

With a large crowd expected in the Walled City, traffic movement around the Teej procession route will remain affected during the evening.

Areas around Tripolia Gate, Tripolia Bazaar, Chhoti Chaupar, Gangauri Bazaar, Chaugan and Talkatora are expected to see the heaviest crowd and traffic pressure. Traffic may be diverted at different points depending on the movement of the procession.

People travelling towards City Palace and the Walled City should avoid taking private vehicles close to the main procession route, especially during the evening. Visitors coming for the Teej Sawari should preferably park away from the crowded old-city area and walk towards the viewing points.

Since Independence Day and Hariyali Teej fall on the same day this year, Jaipur may also see additional security and traffic management at important locations. Hariyali Teej falls on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

If you are heading towards the Walled City today, plan some extra travel time and follow the latest on-ground directions from Jaipur Traffic Police.
